Years ago, inspired by his own academic struggles, Reverend Dr. Anthony J. Shipley envisioned a blueprint for innovative educational programs aimed at boosting student achievement, Armed with his professional experience creating educational programs and an unalterable commitment to education, he put the plan into motion.
In 1997, with support from the Christ United Methodist Church congregation, he took the first step toward realizing his vision with the use of the Christ United Methodist Church building up to code; and a charter through Saginaw Valley State University. Chandler Park Academy has since emerged as a cornerstone of Dr. Shipley’s plan. He feels blessed to have made a difference in the lives of the children of the community he serves. The growth of Chandler Park Academy has been nothing short of phenomenal. Today, the energy and eagerness of more than 2,200 students fill the halls and classrooms of the Chandler Park Academy Campus.
In September, 2007, Chandler Park Academy expanded its academic program to include its first high school class, grade 9. For the next three years the program increased by an additional grade. 2010-2011 was Chandler Park Academy’s first class of graduating seniors.
